The terms used are not gender-specific.
Last Update: 18. July 2023
These GTC apply to the services provided by SIT in connection with the mediation of volunteer work between employed individuals (hereinafter referred to as "customers") and non-profit organizations (hereinafter referred to as "partner organizations").
By submitting an interest in placement, SIT offers its customers the conclusion of a placement contract (hereinafter referred to as the "Contract") based on these GTC and the description of the respective volunteer stay provided on the website or through provided program catalogs.
The contract is concluded upon acceptance of the GTC.
Customers are obliged to immediately check the received documents for accuracy of issuance (name, data, host country, description of the volunteer assignment, etc.) and promptly notify SIT of any incorrect data. In particular, misspelled names may lead to rejection or invalidation in connection with the booking of additional services such as insurance and accommodation services.
Suggestions for assignment opportunities are provided after customers:
Non-binding assignment proposals are selected by SIT. SIT uses the information provided by customers as the basis for the selection. The provision of information on travel preferences, skills, and knowledge is based on the consent to data disclosure, which is separately agreed with the customers.
Suggestions for assignment opportunities are provided after customers:
a) have communicated their interest in placement in writing,
b) have submitted the consent declaration for data processing and disclosure and the acceptance of these GTC, and
c) have completed and submitted the form provided by SIT for personal and preference data.
Customers are obliged to provide the requested data with the utmost care and promptly inform SIT of any incorrect or changed data. In particular, misspelled names may lead to rejection or invalidation in connection with the booking of additional services such as insurance and accommodation services.
SIT provides the customer and the partner organization with a volunteer agreement that must be signed by both parties.
By signing the volunteer agreement, the customers confirm to the non-profit partner organization the conclusion of the volunteer assignment.
SIT optionally supports customers with travel preparation after signing the volunteer agreement with the following services:
SIT does not assume any liability for the use of services provided by partner organizations or third-party service providers such as insurance companies or accommodation providers.
The organization of travel to and from the host country is the responsibility of the customers.
SIT offers mediation and related services at a fixed price, which depends on the duration of the volunteer stay.
a) Assignments up to and including a duration of 7 days: EUR 29.00.
b) Assignments with a duration between 8 days and one month: EUR 49.00.
c) Assignments with a duration of more than one month: EUR 120.00.
The prices include VAT.
The service fee becomes due upon signing the volunteer agreement.
The service fee is due within 14 days after invoicing or, at the latest, 14 days after acceptance of the offer.
Third-party services are excluded from this. Costs for third-party services are due according to the payment terms of the third-party service providers.
Participation in the offered volunteer assignments is at the customers' own risk.
SIT is not liable for damages, injuries, accidents, or losses that occur during a volunteer assignment.
SIT acts only as an intermediary vis-à-vis customers and is not liable for any claims by customers against partner organizations or other third parties. Any agreements or contracts entered into with partner organizations or third-party providers are solely the responsibility between customers and the respective contracting party.
SIT provides customers with general information on residence and visa requirements of the host country after the conclusion of the contract. This information does not replace legal advice from official immigration authorities or specialized lawyers.
Obtaining residence permits is the responsibility of the customers. Upon request, SIT can provide customers with local specialized lawyers to assist with obtaining residence permits. SIT assumes no liability for the advice and services of external lawyers.
Customers are responsible for carrying necessary travel documents and must ensure that their passport or ID card has sufficient validity. Furthermore, customers are responsible for complying with all relevant regulations for the execution of the trip. All disadvantages, in particular the payment of cancellation fees, are at their expense.
Customers have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days from the day of contract conclusion without giving any reasons.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, customers must inform Sobbatical Impact Travel e.U., Märzstraße 88/16, 1150 Vienna, Austria, of their decision to withdraw from this contract by means of a clear written statement sent by post or by email to info@sobbatical.com.
If customers wish to start working within the open withdrawal period, customers agree that they will lose the right of withdrawal from the contract upon complete fulfillment of the contract (signing of the volunteer agreement).
Regardless of the statutory right of withdrawal, SIT grants its customers an extended right of cancellation. Cancellation of the contract is possible at any time by all parties without giving any reasons before the effective conclusion of the volunteer agreement. Neither party has a claim for compensation for any incurred costs.
In case of cancellation by customers after the effective conclusion of the volunteer agreement, a refund of the service fee according to Article 3 is excluded.
In the event of booking changes initiated by customers after the effective conclusion of the volunteer agreement, 50% of the service fee of the already concluded contract becomes due.
Volunteer assignments are subject to the provisions agreed upon between customers and partner organizations. These are regulated within the framework of a volunteer agreement according to Article 3.
Accordingly, a volunteer assignment can be terminated at any time by mutual agreement between the volunteer organization and the volunteer in accordance with the conditions of the agreement concluded between them. Article 3 remains unaffected by this. A refund of the service fee in case of early termination of the stay, regardless of which party initiates it, is excluded.
All intellectual property rights regarding the website, logos, content, and materials provided to customers by SIT remain the property of SIT or its licensors.
Customers are not permitted to use or distribute SIT's intellectual property without prior written consent.
Customers undertake to comply with the applicable laws and regulations of the host country during the volunteer assignment.
Customers agree to treat the locals, employees, members, and clients of the partner organization respectfully and appropriately during the volunteer assignment.
Customers acknowledge that they are responsible for their own behavior during the volunteer assignment, and SIT assumes no responsibility for the behavior of customers.
